Major Keys

Build the key. Learn the path — in the order your band hall actually runs. Steps 2–4 cover the Bronze scale-club keys (concert B♭, E♭, F — and mallets are concert pitch, so that's literal).

The eight steps

In order, ready to assign

How these are graded: every step is an assigned trail — same seed, same stages for every student. The report shows the conditions: support level, incorrect answers, reveals, and whether the student ran your trail or an easier one they configured. Completion under stated conditions, never a timer.

Stretch: the Enharmonic Pass — F♯ major and G♭ major, the same bars spelled two ways. The Scale Trail twin of Mallet Map's "One Bar, Two Names."

Free, logged out, on any device

Every link on this page is free and works logged out on phones and Chromebooks. Steps are scored on accuracy under stated conditions — never speed. No student accounts, no sign-in, and no practice data leaves the student's browser — the report is generated on the device and shared by the student. Scale Trail and this page support keyboard operation, visible focus, and WCAG AA contrast in light and dark. Something in the way? Use Report a problem below.
