Free web apps

Free percussion tools that teach.

Built for students. Ready for the classroom. No accounts, no downloads, no cost — choose a goal and start practicing.

Every app runs in a browser — on a phone, a tablet, a Chromebook, or the projector in the band hall. Each card launches the app; the page behind it explains what the app does and who it is for.

Ready-to-assign teaching sequences

A Teaching Sequence is a free, ordered progression built from the apps. Choose a complete sequence or one assignment, copy the link into Google Classroom or Canvas, and students work under clear conditions without creating an account.

More teaching sequences are planned for Click Drop and Tempo Ladder — and some apps will never have one, on purpose. Every gated step is scored on accuracy under stated conditions, never speed.

The whole topic, every way you need it

Every Theory Reference poster has a written lesson behind it, and there are nineteen topics in all. Eighteen carry two ready-to-teach plans — forty-five minutes for a first teach, twenty for a review — and there is a printable worksheet with its answer key, or an app drill, wherever one exists. Nothing needs an account.

Backwerd Rhythm Shop is a practical resource library and shop for percussion directors, students, and performers — designed by a percussionist, for percussionists.
